Re: Engine choices and fuel economy - speculations

The official numbers have been out for some time now. The results are:

Model, CO2, fuel economy:
Yaris 1.0: 118g/km, 5,0 l/100 km = 20km/l
iQ 1.0: 99g/km, 4,3 l/100 km = 23,3km/l

Re: any diesel iq owners?

I have one, and it's quite fast with the 6 speed and all.

I have a strange driving pattern of 80% motorway and 20% short city driving. The diesel is great on the motorway returning about 20km/l,...

Re: Actual moving video of the new iQ as revealed at the New York Autoshow

The speed shown in that video makes you wonder if it's driving on the starter motor alone (EV mode! :D )

1.33 might not be much for the US market, but that video is just childish...

Re: Interior quality

I didn't touch all the plastic panels, but the one above the glove compartment bag is soft and all buttons feel nice as well. Some reviews mention some of the panels you don't normally touch are in...

If it's any help, we are atill waiting for the prices in Europe as well. For the 1.33 that is.

Re: Is it ever gonna come to US?

Thay think Ford Focus and VW Golf are competitors to the iQ, showing their obliviousness to the segments. Go figure.

Re: Engine choices and fuel economy - speculations

Yes. That is the press release i keep finding everywhere. Some of these say the numbers are still to be finalized, and I can't find any official final numbers from Toyota.

New info on the 1.33

Yaris has just received a face lift which included upgrading the engines to the ones from iQ. There are some speculations regarding the fuel economy for the 1.33 petrol engine. Some think it might...

Re: Is it ever gonna come to US?

The best you can do for the US iQ is actually to buy/recommend Smart in the US. If it turns out to be popular, then Toyota should be less reluctant to introduce some competition for the Smart.

Re: What do you like the least or don't you like about the iQ?

There is a fix for the boot-light problem, as it is a common issue with these small cars.

You can get small click-on lights in many supermarkets that run on batteries and stick right onto where...

Re: iQ first drives

^^ It is worth noting that the Yaris had the diesel engine, which will appear in the iQ later in Britain.

Thanks for the link to Fifth Gear.

Re: iQ first drives

Tom Ford from Fifth Gear drives the iQ in the latest episode.
It is quite a thorough review by Fifth Gear standards, and he absolutely loves it!
Only negative parts: fourth seat almost useless...

Nice blog. I'm awaiting your roundup on the Hypermiling.

You still have to push a button for it to start; wouldn't the steering lock engage when the engine is off?

Re: SCION iQ...expensive too.

You seem to have bought a little too much into the Smart marketing. Toyota has an extremely high crash safety standard, and the iQ should rate among the safest cars in the class, as will be hinted by...

Re: Iq vs. Smart side by side photo!

This is what puzzles me about the diesel engine tuning in the iQ. Instead of optimizing the drivetrain for fuel economy (like for the 1.0 petrol), the diesel seems to aim for performance with non-eco...

Re: Electric, hybrid or gas?

I can't see the great appeal in gas when modern hybrids are so clean and an electric version is under development (see the FT-EV prototype). It makes sense to have a huge bus run on natural gas, or...

Re: Details on the 1.33L engine

Yes. Google is my friend, but those 1.3l numbers are for the Auris. As you can see in one of the threads where I posted the numbers, you can't simply multiply and hope for the best (I did this for...

Re: Details on the 1.33L engine

This all sounds good, but I want stats: how does it compare to the 1.0 and 1.4 diesel in terms of power, efficiency and price? And what about a stop'n'start on a diesel?

BTW. The 1.5 Yaris engine...

I think it is a bit too early to order before we know the versions.

I'm waiting for more info about the diesel, but here's what I'm gonna do when we get the fuel economy figures of that engine:

Re: Edmunds drives the iQ

That article brings along some bad news:

1) The diesel is less fuel efficient than the petrol engine!? That has to be a mistake!

2) No mentioning of Stop'n'go for the diesel.

3) The new 1.3...
