In our Kia Soul forum the culprit seemed
to be delivery by rail. Those in the US
whose cars traveled by rail had this problem.

Claybar or dealer.....

Re: Has your white iQ broken out in orange rust spots ???

Hi icute,

I have a pearl white car and get the small rust spots all of the time. It's usually from brake dust which just gets embedded into the clear coat. What I find works best for me is a clay bar. The only draw back is that it is very time consuming if you plan on doing your entire car, but then again the iQ is not very big anyhow. The clay bar works amazingly well as it removes small particles that are embeded in the clear coat. You can actually feel these particles if you run the back of your hand over your iQ, but after a good go over with a clay bar, it is as smooth as the day you bought it. Anyways, I'm glad to hear that you found something that works!

Glad your situation was resolved. It will be interesting to see if more rust spots show up on other white ones. That would rule out the theory you were given. I can't wait til the car comes to the US. I am hoping for more color choices too.

Best wishes.

Re: Has your white iQ broken out in orange rust spots ???

Visited my new dealer today who said the spots were on top and not under the paintwork. Could have been caused by tiny metal fragments landing on the car and got wet, resulting in rusting... (? where I would get tiny metal fragments from as we live in the country) He took a bit of a 3M polishing compound and was able to buff out the spots. He recommended something like Auto Glym Super resin polish (He said T-Cut would be too harsh). So I am very relieved that's all it was.

I would recommend if you do have a white car you keep an eye on it. Better to catch it sooner than later...

PS. Saw a purple iQ today for the first time at the dealer.... And saw an silver one on the road, looked a bit ordinary... That is in my humble opinion.

Re: Has your white iQ broken out in orange rust spots ???

Hi,
Sorry not sure how to add an image.... But if your friend looks for tiny orange dots. They have appeared on all three doors. On the two side doors I have 3-5 each and on the back door another three - One you can actually feel a slight lump. Being a white car they are pretty easy to see. My husband photographed them and enlarged them and they are without doubt rust... We are very concerned about this. We are phoning the main dealer first thing Monday morning.

If you want to PM email me I can send you the photo.

I have a freind with an white IQ. Could you please post a pic of the referred spots?
And in my opinion, you should take it to a real Toyota dealer and have them solve your problem.

Has your white iQ broken out in orange rust spots ???

I bought a pearl white iQ2 in February 2009. While washing it today I found several tiny orange spots on both doors and the rear door... It's Rust ! A very close up photo confirms this. One is actually pitted
Has anyone else noticed anything on their white iQ's....

The dealership I bought it from went out of business about 2 months ago (Which is a shame because they were Excellent! ) What should I do? The car is only 6 months old and I love it but don't want it resprayed!!! White Pearl will never match... The new local dealership just opened 5 days ago. It's a branch of another dealership, not sure if it was a Toyota dealership.... Should I take it to a more established Toyota dealer, what should I expect ? Please help.
