Re: Post all rumors about USA intro of iQ here

I'll serously consider buying this IQ - IF it is the one Europe gets. F&*k that hidous Scion version - no fookin way would I buy that gaudy fender skirt monster. its fugly and all that plastic crap addon gabage adds 300 lbs and hurts mileage.

If scion insists upon only offering the hidous juvinile variant of the IQ I WILL BUY THE FIAT 500 (which I KNOW shall be offered in the SAME CLASSIC STYLE that the europeans now enjoy.

just a fair warning to the Scion powers that be...............don't fook up the good thing that the IQ currently is.

Report: Scion iQ to hit U.S. soil in fall 2010
08/17/2009, 12:44 PMBY DREW JOHNSON

Toyota’s Scion brand has been struggling to find buyers over the last few months – with sales down 57.8 percent this year – but the funky brand should receive a shot in the arm next year. According to inside sources, the Scion iQ concept shown at the 2009 New York Motor Show will be arriving in U.S. dealerships in 2010.

Although Toyota – Scion’s parent company – has yet to officially announce the iQ is U.S.-bound, Jack Hollis, vice president of the Scion division, reportedly revealed to Scion dealers that the iQ would be arriving in U.S. dealerships by fall of 2010.
“Jack told us it’s coming next September or October,” a large Toyota dealer told Automotive News.
At 117.5 inches long, the iQ is about one foot longer than the Smart ForTwo, offering seating for three adults and one child. A three-cylinder engine is available in the Euro-spec iQ – which has been on sale since late 2008 – but the Scion version will likely do with a more powerful 1.3L four-cylinder. Fuel economy is expected to top 60 mpg.
Like all Scion models, the iQ will likely be offered in only one trim level, but will offer a number of customization options. No pricing information has been revealed, but the tiny hatchback is expected to carry a price tag of about $15,000.

Finally getting some specifics:

http://www.motortrend.com/features/a..._iq/index.html

"As we predicted last year, Toyota is preparing its tiny iQ 3+1 city car for North America, badged as a Scion. The car could arrive late in 2010 as an 2011 model, or in early 2011 as a 2012. Under Scion's revived one-model-and-out strategy, the iQ would be replaced with something different after a single five-year cycle." more info in article...........

Re: Post all rumors about USA intro of iQ here

I went out on a limb and sent an e-mail to Scion via their website. I didn't have high expectations about getting a definitive answer, but what they heck...

Here's what I wrote:

"I'm just wondering if there is any plan to bring the iQ here as a Scion in the near future? I'm looking to buy a new car next year, and while I like the Smart, it has too many flaws for me to seriously consider it. The iQ sounds like it would suit my needs perfectly.

Thanks!"

And here's their reply:

"Thanks for contacting Scion! We appreciate your feedback about the Scion iQ concept. At this time there are not any plans for the iQ to be produced. We are still trying to collect consumer feedback at our office. Your email has been documented at our national headquarters and will be available for management to review.

Please let us know if you have any other questions. You may contact us directly at 1-866-70-SCION or by email at Scion.com</a>.

Scion Customer Experience"

Not very positive, but then I didn't really expect that they'd share any secret plans, I guess.

Notice they adjusted the "smile" a little. It looks happier now. Love this color.

Re: Post all rumors about USA intro of iQ here

Can't wait to hear more from NY on April 6th! Hope they give a release date and a cheaper base price.
I am glad to finally hear something about the iQ. I am not interested in the EV at this time and am looking to either get that smart or if comparably priced I would prefer the iQ (gotta love the toyota/scion rep and available parts). I can't wait two more years to replace my car.

Sooooooo excited...
