With the smart car, my original plan was black and get lime green flames. Now I am thinking lime green all the way. I am so anxious to hear when & how much. Hopefully it will be reasonable. One of my main concerns with the smart was the availability of parts in the US. I wonder what will happen to smart when iQ does come here. If iQ is a lot more pricey I imagine smart will be safe, but if it is the same/close then I wonder if smart will leave US. I hope we'll know soon. One thing I really like about smart is the community. I hope we gather a connection like that here once more people know about the iQ.

I know! Right? I decided if I don't hear anything by the time the 2010 Smarts come out (like November/December), I am getting one of those. The official word I have heard is that they are testing the response from the US and will give word around December 2009. My thought is that if they are still deciding up until December 09 then when would they start production? I know there are modifications to be made too. If it was AVAILABLE December 09, that is one thing but my currently vehicle is elderly and I can't wait years more. Already been waiting one year. I also keep hearing the Scion is saying the iQ won't be the least expensive car on their line up. This concerns me. Sorry for the downer of a reply, but I am frustrated with not hearing anything too. My info is from this article: http://blogs.edmunds.com/straightline/2009/04/2009-new-york-auto-show-scion-iq-concept.html

I'd like to replace my Focus about this time next year. I won't have to, but I'd like to. I've already pretty much ruled out the smart. The other car I'd consider is the upcoming Ford Fiesta. I'll wait until it gets here to actually decide.

Finally getting some specifics: http://www.motortrend.com/features/auto_news/2009/112_0909_scion_iq/index.html"As we predicted last year, Toyota is preparing its tiny iQ 3+1 city car for North America, badged as a Scion. The car could arrive late in 2010 as an 2011 model, or in early 2011 as a 2012. Under Scion's revived one-model-and-out strategy, the iQ would be replaced with something different after a single five-year cycle." more info in article...........

Finally!!!!!!!!!! http://www.leftlanenews.com/report-scion-iq-to-hit-u-s-soil-in-fall-2010.htmlReport: Scion iQ to hit U.S. soil in fall 2010 08/17/2009, 12:44 PMBY DREW JOHNSON Toyota’s Scion brand has been struggling to find buyers over the last few months – with sales down 57.8 percent this year – but the funky brand should receive a shot in the arm next year. According to inside sources, the Scion iQ concept shown at the 2009 New York Motor Show will be arriving in U.S. dealerships in 2010. Although Toyota – Scion’s parent company – has yet to officially announce the iQ is U.S.-bound, Jack Hollis, vice president of the Scion division, reportedly revealed to Scion dealers that the iQ would be arriving in U.S. dealerships by fall of 2010. “Jack told us it’s coming next September or October,” a large Toyota dealer told Automotive News. At 117.5 inches long, the iQ is about one foot longer than the Smart ForTwo, offering seating for three adults and one child. A three-cylinder engine is available in the Euro-spec iQ – which has been on sale since late 2008 – but the Scion version will likely do with a more powerful 1.3L four-cylinder. Fuel economy is expected to top 60 mpg. Like all Scion models, the iQ will likely be offered in only one trim level, but will offer a number of customization options. No pricing information has been revealed, but the tiny hatchback is expected to carry a price tag of about $15,000. ShareThis Print This Post

Here's something I've been wondering, and perhaps our friends in Europe can enlighten us... How do the Fiat 500 and the iQ compare to each other? What are the pros and cons of each, how do they compare in size, etc? From what I read in reviews I almost think I like the 500 more than the iQ... Thanks!

It is already old news that the Fiat 500 is going to be on sale in the US in about a year. Probably imported at first, but then built at one of Chrysler's plants in Mexico.

Not sure how to take that - or you - but if you search around you'll find it's been reported in lots and lots of reputable news sources. It's not just an Internet rumor.
