Default Details on the 1.33L engine

An interesting article in the link below, explaining the merits of this engine vs. the 1.4L predecessor. One has to wonder for the states whether or not the 1.33L would be a better choice than the Yaris 1.5L engine that is continually rumored for the states. From a packaging standpoint, the iQ has been designed with the 1.33L engine in mind, along with a relocated differential. I'm not certain the current 1.5L would even fit into the iQ. Hopefully we'll know something definitive soon.

This all sounds good, but I want stats: how does it compare to the 1.0 and 1.4 diesel in terms of power, efficiency and price? And what about a stop'n'start on a diesel?

BTW. The 1.5 Yaris engine is an inefficient relic IMHO. A big, heavy, noisy gas guzzler that makes the Yaris nose heavy. The added power compared to the diesel can be neutralized by fitting it with a slushbox.

Google is your friend. Here are some numbers for the 1.33 & the old 1.4 gasser. No info on price from this source.

From Green Car Congress:
Engine Power/Torque Combined Cycle CO2
1.33L-VVT-i: 100/101 5.8 135
1.4L VVT-i: 96/97 6.9 163

And the data you posted:
1.0L-VVT-i 5p 68/?? 4.3 99
1.0L-VVT-i CVT 68/?? 4.7 110
1.4L-D4D 6 speed 90/?? 4.0 104

Cheers

Yes. Google is my friend, but those 1.3l numbers are for the Auris. As you can see in one of the threads where I posted the numbers, you can't simply multiply and hope for the best (I did this for the diesel and was 20% off)

or even LS7. With the exciting news about the new 600hp CTS super V, it sounds like that could be a the supervette engine. What do you think> Is that just some amazing new cadillac engine, C6-R, or tweaked LS7. Anyone have a thought about what engine is in both the CTS super V and Supervette?
